500g minced beef
1 large onion - finely diced
1 stalk celery - finely diced
1 large carrot - finely diced
2 x 400ml chopped tomatoes
2tbsp tomato puree
1tsp Worcester sauce
200ml red wine (optional)
1 beef stock cube
1tbsp minced garlic
Heat oil in a pan and add the diced vegetables, cook until softened.
Add the mince and brown, breaking it up with the back of a fork or spatula.
Add the garlic, seasoning and salt to taste, mix until combined, add the Worcester sauce and red wine, cook for 2-3 minutes until liquid evaporates, mixing well.
Add the tomato puree and mix till combined, pour in the chopped tomatoes and beef stock cube, simmer for 45 minutes - 1 hour until sauce is thick and meat is tender.
Serve hot with spaghetti & your favourite garlic bread.
